How to use the heating & cooling system

Here's how to use the heating & cooling system for the main house -- and how to turn it off completely. The weather is often so good in San Mateo that we just leave it off, and leave the windows & doors open.

I need to ship something to the property ahead of time. How can I do this?

The property has other guests staying in it, so you can't ship to the property address ahead of time, but we do have a location down the street that can accept packages.


We can store up to 5 packages for you for free for up to a week before your stay. We can store additional packages for a week for $10 per package (up to 20 lbs per package).


Contact DROdio for the mailing address, and make sure the reservation holder's name is on the package. We will drop it off at your property the day of check-in.

Can we get maid service during our stay, or support for a specific type of cleaning?

Yes! Our house cleaner, Carola, is happy to ensure your stay is comfortable. Here's what we can do:


If your stay is longer than 4 days:

  • Carola can wash your towels and clean the kitchen and bathrooms as necessary every four days.

  • You're free to decline if you don't want this!


If your stay is 4 days or less -- or if you just want some extra cleaning support:

Can you accommodate an early check-in or a late check-out?


Sometimes we can, depending on the guest calendar.


The cost is $100/hour for early check-ins or late check-outs, which you can pay here (or scan the QR code at left to pay with your phone). Contact DROdio before paying to make sure we can accommodate your schedule.


We also have a bag drop service if you just need to drop your bags off before check-in.


Please do not enter the Airbnb or knock on the doors before your check-in time. Our house cleaner will be cleaning the property and she does not have much time between guest check-out and check-in to get the house ready for you. She wants the house to be in great shape for you and it's stressful to have guests interacting with her as she's in cleaning mode.

Pricing for 2+ guests at the Lagoon Retreat


We work to make the Lagoon Retreat a five star experience while keeping the value high. One of the ways we do this is by offering a lower price for just 2 guests, and then incrementing the price for additional guests that are 2 years old or older.


As a part of our tax reporting to San Mateo, we must have an accurate count of the number of guests sleeping at the property. It's therefore critical that you put an accurate guest count in when reserving the property. 

If the count is inaccurate, we reserve the right to cancel the resveration early and charge a $500 fee to account for the additional work we need to do to remain in compliance with the tax reporting.


If you need to adjust the guest count, you can do that by requesting a change in the Airbnb app (if you booked through Airbnb)…

Can we tour the space before our check-in date to get a better feel for the property?

Yes, if we can accommodate a day where our house cleaner is at the property and has the time to let you in, we're happy to do so. Just message DROdio to be connected to the house cleaner.

Adding a full day (or more) to your reservation



If you want to change your reservation, the best way to do it is directly through the booking platform you originally used (Airbnb, VRBO or directly on the http://LagoonRetreat.net website).


However, sometimes it's not possible to make the change on the booking site (late notice, etc). So long as you have confirmed availability with DROdio, you can also pay the amount here directly.


Only use this link to pay if:

  • DROdio has confirmed this is the only way to accept payment (i.e., we already tried to do it through the booking site), and

  • DROdio has confirmed the amount due with you in writing.

Corporate Rental in the heart of Silicon Valley: Fully furnished + Maid Service


The Lagoon Retreat is available to rent as a corporate rental for periods of 6+ months (12+ months preferred).


The rate is $15,000/month. The Lagoon Retreat is fully furnished and includes all utilities.


Optionally, we can include maid service for a rate of $18,000/month, which includes:

  • Full cleaning & turnover between your corporate guests

  • Fully stocked snacks cabinet

  • For guest staying >3 days: Maid service every-other day, as desired by the guest

Iron and ironing board

There is an iron in the laundry room (look to the right when you walk in, on the same wall as the light switch).


The ironing board is in the space between the dryer and the wall.

Help Yourself to anything in the refrigerator or freezer

Welcome to our home! As you've no doubt noticed, we live here and rent the property out while traveling. This means there will likely be food in the fridge.


We've done our best to clear the refrigerator and freezer out enough to give you room to put your items in. You are also welcome to help yourself to anything that's in the fridge or freezer. Enjoy!
